Tips To Stay Organized While Traveling in Style

It’s summer, and that means there’s plenty of time to have some fun in the sun, and plenty of people are traveling and enjoying the warmth of the season. Whether you’re going to the beach or the mountains, it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy nature.

However, if you’re planning to fly at all during your trip, you’ll be dealing with the TSA. It’s a huge hassle, and it’s made even more frustrating by the rules and regulations that they have in place.

Fortunately, with some planning, there are plenty of ways to stay stylish, organized, and TSA compliant. If you’re ready to see some useful organization tips and travel in style, this is the place to be.

Bring Your Favorite Products in Travel-Sized Bottles

When you’re traveling, you need to look your best. This means you’ll want to pack your essential skincare products, shampoo, conditioner, and other necessities.

To make sure your items aren’t confiscated at the gate, you’ll need to adhere to TSA guidelines. The TSA refers to this as the 3-1-1 rule, which states that:

  • 3.4 ounces (400 ml) of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion may be taken on flights as carry-on
  • Carry-on items must fit into a quart-sized resealable bag
  • An additional 3.4 ounces (400 ml) may be taken in your checked baggage

If you’re packing for convenience, then you’ll probably want something like a travel-sized version of our Signature Plastic Collection bottles. Once you arrive, you’ll also need a handy way to get the soap out. A Silicone Funnel is going to be useful for thicker substances, like lotions and salves. For thinner liquids, like hand soaps or oils, you’ll want to use a Stainless Steel Funnel.

Travel Organization is a Must

Are you going to be flaunting some jewels while you’re enjoying the sun?

If so, you’ll want to make sure they’re organized and safe. Use a toiletry bag to keep anything you’re not wearing together. When you land and start unpacking, a toiletry bag is easy to find and simple to unpack.

As you’re unloading your things, you’ll also want to have a way to remember where you put everything. It may pay to pack light, but it also pays to be prepared. Having something like a White + Gold Ring Dish to place all of your jewelry in will help you stay organized. When your vacation is over, it will also make your packing easier.

Label Everything

During your travels, you’ll probably pick up some souvenirs. To make room for these items, many people will travel light and carry an extra bag or two.

What many people don’t think about is how they’ll keep track of what they’ve already brought. When you’re traveling, you want to make sure you know what you have. Make a list of everything that you’ve packed before you leave, and use this as a checklist when you’re packing to return home.

For your lotions, soaps, and shampoos, you’ll also want to bring along something to label each bottle. Many people will write directly on the bottle, but this label is likely to smear off if you’re not careful. A better solution is to use a permanent label, or a printed-on label.

Give Kids Something Familiar

The last of our travel tips are specifically for kids.

When you’re little, traveling is exciting and scary. There are many new sounds, sights, and smells. This means that having a piece of home to carry with you is a must, and that should extend outside of a few toys. When you’re packing your child’s bag, be sure to bring familiar soaps and lotions.

You’ll want to make sure that all of these goods are stored in TSA-compliant 3-ounce containers, and those containers should fit within a quart-sized plastic bag if you’re taking them as carry-on. Something like our Plastic Bottle for Kids is a perfect way to organize and store soaps, lotions, and shampoos from home.

To make sure you stay organized, add labels beforehand. You’ll also want to pack funnels to help you get the soap and shampoo out.

Give the Gift of Organized Travel

Regardless of where you’re going this summer, remember to stay organized.

The more you plan ahead, the less stressful your trip will be. If you know someone who’s lined up for a big trip in the future, consider giving them the gift of organized travel with a gift card to The Polished Jar.
